Is Prey worth the time?

Predator: The sequels have failed spectacularly to live up to the original. Prey (2022) has returned to the minimalism that was key in the success of the original Predator game. However, everything has been further reduced to give it a more primitive and unsettling feel. It is sometimes very much like The Revenant. But there are no moments when you can be certain that the people whom we are pulling for really are secure. The location is very stunning, but I couldn't help but wonder whether or not the moviemakers would actually stick to their guns and not attempt to make the story too intricate. The Predator, on the other hand, is a picture that attempts to do too much. Prey, however, is the opposite. It works best when there is peace, quiet and order everywhere (just before each attack). Trachtenberg now appears in two series. He has created (more info) the best sequels to each. It is clear that he has the skills to make the most of the time period and deliver the goods, but the atmosphere of this movie is perhaps its strongest feature. The setting gets more dark and threatening, instilling a sense of fear. It is this feeling that creates the intensity of the film. The film doesn't slow down at any point during the third and final acts. The movie does have a slow start but that is to be expected given the character development.
